¿µ¹®³»¿ë (English Abstract) |
With the development of wireless access technologies, the communication environment which provides a multimedia service is changed to heterogeneous wireless networks. In this communication environment, a multimedia service should require to guarantee the end-to-end QoS (quality of service). But, in the service over heterogeneous wireless networks, it does not fast know about the changes of network status because of the user mobility. The perceived service quality may be degraded because of the packet losses caused by changes of network status after a handover. To guarantee the perceived service quality, we need to study the adaptive streaming schemes for a multimedia service, which agilely adjust the serving quality based on the new network characteristics after a handover. In this paper, we propose a SVC-based streaming framework that considers a vertical handover. The proposed framework first knows about a vertical handover situation using the IEEE 802.21 MIH (Media independent handover), and then agilely adjusts the serving quality based on the characteristic of target network after a handover. Our framework, consequently, can improve the quality of a multimedia service provided to users in a vertical handover.
